Gettin' around with DIANIMAL
Febuary 2003
February is here again, and you still have time to procure the perfect Valentine for the love in your life.   Personally, I would want the gift to excite all of the senses...Now think about that for a moment...When the Dianimal wants excitement, you could look at it several different ways.  But enough about Me!  Let's just make it a Hallmark memory for your special someone and leave it at that.
The last of the Summer Wine is here, and by that I mean that Winter is fading fast.  Yep, Springtime, Bugtime, Ridetime, and Thrill time is close at hand.  It is time to make sure your baby is road ready from her front to her rear tire.  How about a tune up?  This is the time of year to call Cajun Cycles here in Baton Rouge for that Springtime inspection and tune up.  I plan to patronize their shop for any work that my bike will need to stay in operative mode this year.  I have narrowed it down to three different models for this year's purchase.  NOw that you've been keeping up with my column, what do YOU think it will be?  Even I'm not sure yet.
What do you think of when you hear "Twist and GO"?  As of their grand opening on January 25th, University Scooters here in the Capitol City at 6031 Siegen Lane should be what comes to mind.  This is a new store here in Baton Rouge, and the Dealer is Neil West.  He is a heck of a nice guy, and you should enjoy your dealings with him if the need or desire for a scooter ever comes up.  He markets a scooter called Kymco, and it appears to be the path to the future.  (At least on college campuses).  It will get you across town and only use a teeny amount of fuel.  It is a 50 to 250 cc engine, so they make one that will fit just about anyone.  It will even go up to 80 mph!!  Sikk?  Do you know what that means?  Sure you do, just maybe not by name.  Sikk is the word used when referring to  those little pit bikes with the pull start that can hold a 200 lb man.  University Scooters has several in stock, and they are great bikes for clowning around on.
I went on vacation last month, and really enjoyed my time out of the city.  So much in fact that immediately upon returning to town I scouted, discovered, and purchased a piece of waterfront property.  I have already begun plans for my new home with a bike port and yes it is a safe bet that there will be some kind of housewarming throwdown party.
Last week Steve at LA Daiquiris in Baton Rouge on O Neal Lane  where are you?  I have been to your place several times for the good food, but I have yet to see you.  Have you been hiding?
Do not forget that Steamboat Charlie Matherne and his lovely wife Patty have opened their new accessory shop in St Francisville.  If you need it they either have already got it, ot they will find it for you.  Their watering hole is an excellent place to stop and shoot the breeze with other motorcyclists on Sunday Afternoons.  Try it, and I believe you will like it.  You just cannot be uncomfortable in their atmosphere.
What are your New Years Resolutions for the upcoming year?  I'll share mine with you...I vow to take more pictures of the people I see every month, not just when I cover an event.  We could always use help with your local events, so don't hesitate to to offer.  Just shoot the pictures, tell me what and when and where and why and who, and we'll put it together and give you a t shirt and the credit for your efforts.  Try us!  Lott Racing has received excellent coverage and not just because I know them.  They have provided me with all of the w's-and several photos.  Nothing to it.  Just, as they say, DO IT!  We all want to see your shining and happy faces.
Keep the shiny side up-    Dianimal
