Well, February is here already and time sure seems to be going fast. It feels like Christmas was yesterday. Mardi Gras is right around the corner and that means that warm weather won't be far behind. I can't wait. I don't know about all of you, but I for one am so ready for all the events this will bring. A reminder, Daiquiri Bay on Veterans is on the parade route. That's perfect for front row bike parking. And for those of you who only have "bike on the brain", don't forget Valentine's Day is Friday, February 14th…Why not plan an overnight ride somewhere with your honey? A River Road ride or a ride to the Coast would be a sure way to get lucky. And remember Leather is still in! hehehe!
I went to Mikee's Chopper's last week and had some new drag pipes put on my bike. I plan on getting loads of riding time in. Not to mention, some more traveling would be nice too. I went to North Georgia last month. That was really nice…beautiful rolling hills perfect for riding. And of course I'm going through my usual withdrawals for sunny Florida. I'm working on that for my next trip. Soon… Key West here I come. You ladies might have spotted a certain hot guy on his Mikee's Red custom chopper around town…woohoooo.. HOT..Red Hot!
To those of you who may be looking for something different than Wednesday night bike night, or maybe you work on Wednesdays and can't make it out? Tuesdays on the Westbank are really up and rolling. Gretna Sports Bar on Westbank Expressway, Froggie's on Gretna Blvd. next to Eagle Rider Harley Rental and now Plaisance Bar on Pratt, are the places to be. Gretna Sports Bar has live music that usually starts around 6 or 7pm. Plaisance Bar has Happy Hour and lots of beer specials. Although they call themselves the "Smallest bike night" I know for a fact that isn't so. Many of you already know Mensy Plaisance from the Red Knights (my favorite guys) so that should tell you that it's the coolest place to be. Mensy has an awesome collection of biker memorabilia and old biker photos. (He even has a toilet that flushes with a throttle!) Plaisance always has something going on. Go there and tell them that you heard about them from me and by the time you leave you'll be making really nice friends. I promise it'll be one of your favorite places to hang out… Then there's Froggie's, the last stop. The late night bike night for that late night burger and just hanging with friends. You'll be surprised whom you might see out. Tuesday nights are really nice for those of you who are looking for something relaxing and laid back.
Also, many of you who frequent the Metairie spots probably know Earl Reese, fellow rider and Blue Knight. Congratulations to Earl and his girlfriend Paula on their engagement. Best of luck to you both. On a last note, many of you have been calling me,asking about Lucy's Retired Surfers Bike night starting back up It is on Saturday nights. That was a very hot spot for bikers years ago and it's still going strong. If you want to do the family thing, it is a restaurant, so you can even take your kids there to eat.. Please ride safe during the Mardi Gras season and watch out for the crazy people. Remember, it's not cool to drink all night then ride. Vicki FullThrottle

Well, it's a new year with lots of new things in store for everyone. 2003… Out with the old, in with the new! Which brings me to New Years Resolutions…Everyone always asks me every year what mine is. Usually I don't even have one but this year, I'm going to be different. My New Years Resolution for this year will be to get at least 3 of my friends to learn how to ride and get a bike. They always talk about it but never do it. My friend Lynn just bought a bike and we are about to have some awesome fun times. I'm very excited for her. For the rest of you who are still riding behind your men, you know what I'm saying. Or you guys who hear your friends always saying that they want to do it. Why not volunteer some time to help them get started? Encourage them to take the Riders Safety Course and give it a try. It really does not matter what you ride, it's that you are doing it.
Since it is a new year, I've come up with my own list of new and happening things for 2003,,, Wet T-shirt contests and Screen Dancing is OUT. Dancing on the bar at Coyote Ugly with the girls is IN! So after you hit the Pit Stop on Wednesday's and go to Legend's for the steaks, Coyote Ugly is having a late night bike night with parking right in front. Congratulations to "Coyote bartender" Chantal. Budweiser awarded her the "Bartender of the Year" award.
And the newest and most exciting news of 2003… The warehouse District is definitely an IN! Many of you may remember the old bike nights at Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar about 7-8 years ago. I personally had loads of fun times back then! Well, they are brining it back. The food is awesome and the bartenders are hot. They are going to have lots of cool things going on there too. They also have a "Bad Girls Club" which will also be on Wednesday nights …Ladies, if you are interested in joining, you must pass a series of "tests" to get in…hmmm...sounds like a lot of wild and crazy fun. Guys, you won't want to miss that. Bad girls, Bad Boys! Wow! And the "Bad Girl" T-shirts are very cool too.
Meeting your buddies at Shoney's before a poker run, definitely OUT! Rick's Café in Kenner is IN. They've been a popular meeting place for bikers for quite some time now and it's no longer a "well kept" secret. The prices are great and they are open 24 hours a day and the burgers are awesome. I personally am addicted to the Club sandwiches. Gene the manager loves bikers and has extended an offer to all bikers to get 15% off on anything you order when you come on your bike and tell the waitress that you are a biker. Cool, huh? Hey Gene, Why don't you try and get a new scooter this year so you can come out and ride with us?
I for one am really looking forward to 2003. I'm excited about Full Throttle and I love working with Gil, Nappy, Dianimal, Tank and the whole family. I love hearing from all of you all and especially getting your emails. If you have any events to list in the event section or things that you want me to talk about or pictures for the magazine, please, email or send them to us no later than the 15th of each month. Some times we do get backed up but we do try to get everything in there as soon as we can. If you carry a disposable camera in your saddlebags, you can help capture those "rare moments" that we all love to see.Ride safe and Happy NewYear
